Hello!

I’m Max Carlson, a Theatre & Film Artist currently living in Brooklyn, NY. I didn’t always know my way around these bohemian streets, I grew up in Fishers, Indiana, a town about 30 minutes north of Indianapolis and attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre with an Acting focus. Following graduation, I moved to New York in the Summer of 2023.

I’ve worked all over the city as a Stagehand, Electrician, Audio Engineer, Production Manager, Venue Coordinator, Video Technician, Producer, and Actor. My first love is Acting and performance, but I believe that studying all disciplines within the theatre leads to a better understanding of the craft as a whole and leads to a stronger ability in your chosen slice of the pie.

Additionally, I am the Artistic Director of The Metanoia Group, a New York City based production company tasked with the mission of “Making the Personal Powerful”. I have an innate belief in the truth of the personal driving the creation of great art and hope to center a unique humanity in all projects that I am a part of.

I began my journey in storytelling as a kid, making YouTube sketch videos with my friends (which I deleted after someone on the school bus told me they saw them; it’s famously tough being a kid). I continued this journey in a more official sense when I directed my first feature film, Work in Progress, at the age of 17. Afterwards, I found the theatre and fell in love with its communal nature. Since then, a life of storytelling has taken me to places I never could have imagined, including New York’s Shakespeare in the Park, The Public Theater, VMA Performance Rehearsals, and PBS to name a few.

Currently, I am producing and starring in “LOML: A Max Carlson Comedy Special” with The Metanoia Group. This live, hour long comedy special showcases the peaks and valleys of being a creative, and is built for the specifically for the Theatre, as lighting and sound design play a crucial part in the experience. Visit our IMDB page or The Metanoia Group’s website for more information.

If you’re interested in working together, shoot me an inquiry via my contact page! I’d be glad to consider any and all proposals.
